Alden Craig Carthel

Mr. Alden Craig Carthel, 79, of Ira, TX passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at his home in Ira. A funeral service for Mr. Carthel will be held at 10AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel with Reverend Ryan Ford officiating. The burial will follow at 2pm at Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Alden was born March 7, 1946 to A.C. and Dorothy (Byars) Carthel in Floydada, TX. He married Shirley Nelson on December 23, 1965. Alden was in the U.S. Navy and stationed on the U.S.S. Shangri LA. Alden's hobbies included restoring antiques and working on projects in his shop. Alden was a motorcycle enthusiast and he and Shirley enjoyed traveling all over the country riding their motorcycle together. After his military career he was a DPS State Trooper, which he found extremely rewarding. Alden was a master storyteller and would captivate any audience. He spent the later part of his professional life in the oilfield in multiple roles. He was a serious and resolute safety man.

Mr. Carthel is survived by his wife, Shirley Carthel of Ira, TX; 2 Sons, Nelson Carthel and wife Joy of Snyder, TX, Colton Carthel of Snyder, TX; 1 Grandson, Dagan Carthel of Snyder, TX; 1 sister, Cindy Carthel Belyeu and husband Ron of Matador, TX.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, A.C. and Dorothy Carthel; and 1 Sister, Gloria Ann Carthel.
