Bobbie Jean Kerley Taylor

Feb 11, 1931 — Jun 27, 2026

Granbury, TX

Bobbie Jean Kerley Taylor entered this life on February 10,1931, in Robert Lee, Texas. After a brief illness, she peacefully departed on June 27,2026, at the age of 95, in Granbury, Texas.

She married the love of her life, Frank D Taylor, on June 3,1955, in Snyder, Texas, where they made their home and raised their children, Cheryl Ann Taylor and Robert Brent Taylor.

Bobbie finished high school at Abilene Christian School at the age of 16. She began her college education at Cisco Junior College, where she met Frank. While he attended Hardin-Simmons College, she went on to complete her college degree at Abilene Christian College in 1951 at the ripe old age of 20. She began right away to teach high school business classes in Hermleigh, Texas, where she lived and worked with one of her best friends, Boots Pheiffer Nichols. Two years later she moved to Snyder and began teaching 6th grade. After her marriage she would go on to teach 5th grade until her retirement, her career interrupted only by brief breaks for the births of her children. She retired after 38 years of teaching, one of the most beloved teachers in the Snyder schools. In fact, "Mrs. Taylor" was the teacher her former students often sought out on their return visits to Snyder.

She was a charter member of the 37th Street Church of Christ and remained a faithful member until her move to Granbury in 2020. For most of the last 6 years, she was a member of the Granbury Church of Christ. Through the years she served the 37th Street congregation as a Bible class teacher, ladies class teacher, and teacher of international students through World Bible School. She served on the decorating committee when the auditorium was remodeled and when the Family Center was built. When an occasion called for food, she could always be counted on for her butter cake.

Bobbie was active in the Altruan Daughters sorority and the Martha Ann Women's Club. She was a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association and active in local politics, always volunteering to help with elections. An avid bridge player, she was very involved in two bridge clubs. She was also a fierce 42 competitor; she really hated to lose.

Bobbie loved order and making her living space as beautiful as possible, even the last few months in her assisted living apartment. She always took care with her appearance. While living at The Courtyards of Lake Granbury, she would rise at 6:00 a.m. so that her hair and makeup would be done before going to the dining room for breakfast.

Bobbie is survived by her two children: daughter Cheryl Taylor Lemmons of Fort Worth, Texas, and son Brent Taylor and wife Dr. Deshonna Taylor of Terrell, Texas; sister Karen Milhollon and husband Jim Bob Milhollon of Snyder, Texas, and brother Mike Kerley of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren: Heather Lemmons and partner Josh Gill, Jessica Lemmons and husband Stephen Hodgson, Austin Lemmons and wife Nikki Lemmons, Joshua Taylor and wife Lexi Taylor, Kenedy Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Jonah Taylor, Jacob Taylor, and Aleksi Taylor; son-in-law Thom Lemmons and wife Karla Eidson of Fort Worth, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, dear friends, and countless former students.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents, Bruce and Ann Kerley, brother Bill Kerley, brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Janeene Kerley, sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Jim Worsham, and sisters-in-law, Sue Kerley and Andrea Kerley.

She will be remembered in a funeral service at the 37th Street Church of Christ in Snyder, Texas on Thursday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m., with burial following at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale.
