Charles H. Henderson

Charles Hubert Henderson, 96, of Hermleigh, Texas passed away on Tuesday September 22, 2026 at Kent County Nursing Home in Jayton, Texas. A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 27, 3:30pm at Ft. Chadbourne Cemetery in Coke County. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale funeral home.

 He was born August 20, 1930 to Benjamin Franklin and Eugenia Victoria (Patterson) Henderson in Coke County, Texas. The family moved to Hermleigh in 1940 to farm cotton, where he attended Hermleigh schools and graduated in 1947. Charles served in the U.S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Texas, he obtained a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech.

He and Sandra Faye Neinast married on July 12, 1959 in Littlefield, Texas. During their early married years, they spent time in Colorado and Wisconsin, where Charles earned a master's degree at Colorado State University and taught marketing at the post-secondary college level. In 1972, they returned to Scurry County to farm and for the birth of their daughter, Gayle. Charles also taught at Western Texas College in the mid-1970s.

He lived a life full of love and dedication to his family. He loved farming, was a true patriot, and formerly belonged to First United and Trinity Methodist Churches. He was a lifelong avid reader, enjoyed classic cars, and enjoyed fishing in his younger years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harrell Dean Henderson.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sandra of Hermleigh, TX, and his daughter, Gayle Henderson of Abilene, TX.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 27 at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM at Ft. Chadbourne Cemetery in Coke County. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
