Dorothy Tate, aged 86, of Hermleigh passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. A funeral service for Mrs. Tate will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Hermleigh Church of Christ with Mr. Bruce Smith and Mr. Branum Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Hermleigh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born on September 12, 1939, to John and Aileene Paul in Roscoe.
She was a 1958 graduate of Hermleigh High School and a life-long resident of
Hermleigh. Dorothy married Donald Tate on September 26, 1958, in
Hermleigh.
Survivors include her husband of almost 68 years Donald Tate of Hermleigh;
three children: Curtis Tate of Hermleigh, Anthony Tate and wife Jill of Abilene,
and Lori Comunale and husband Larry of Southlake. She is survived by five
grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Marc Chenard of Laurel, Maryland;
Melanie and husband Connor Schenck of Erie, Colorado; Patrick Tate of
Amarillo; Lawrence Comunale and Laryssa Comunale of Southlake; and one
great-grandchild David Schenck of Erie, Colorado. She is also survived by one
brother Don Paul and wife Loydell of Hurst.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Aileene Paul of
Hermleigh, and two brothers Bobby Paul of Hermleigh and Harvey Paul of Big
Spring.
Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was an
active member of the Hermleigh Church of Christ and taught children's Bible
classes for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother.
