Mrs. Elizabeth (Lucille) Sterling, 97 of Vincent, TX, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home in Vincent. A funeral service for Mrs. Sterling will be held at 2 PM Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Grace Fellowship Church in Snyder, TX, with Mr. Thomas Fogelman officiating. Burial will follow at Ira Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Mrs. Sterling was born on June 5, 1928, to James Edgar and Agnes Wilhelmina (von Roeder) Sorrells in Scurry County. She married J M Sterling June 1, 1949. J M & Lucille enjoyed having family and friends over for fish fries and volleyball on weekends in the summer. She was an avid tennis player and encouraged her children to participate in tennis. In later years Mom would be flexible with her celebration dates to get the majority of us in attendance. She would move her Christmas to an early weekend in December and July 4th celebrations to weekends. She was a proud member and former National President of the Cattlewomen’s Association. She was also an industrious cook and seamstress. Lucille was passionate about celebrating holidays at her home. Especially Easter and her traditional 4th of July parade that has gone on for 45 years. She was a proud member of the Ira Methodist Church. Survived by : Jimmy & Theresa Sterling, Patti & Mike Barnes, June & Sid Wall, Tanya & Terry Shafer, Brett & Laura Sterling Grandchildren : Tara Renfro, Karen Rechichar, Laci Ritchey, Davi Todd, Jake Barnes, Mark Barnes, Drew Wall, Todd Wall, Jess Wall, Kate Murdock, Segan Shafer, Caleb Shafer, Cole Shafer, Gil Shafer, R T Shafer, Quint Shafer, Kurt Shafer, Clair Iden, Jordan Sterling, Anna Winans and their wonderful, amazing spouses, and 34 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband J M Sterling and Great-Granddaughter Sterling Maverick Ritchey, parents Jim & Agnes Sorrells, and sister Ellen Tucker A visitation will be held from 6-7 Pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. |
