Emmett was born on September 28, 2025, to Sterling and Lynsey (Walton) Lee in Lubbock, TX.

In the long procession of lives that pass through this world, most follow the expected road. They are given time, and they use it, and what they leave behind settles like dust - quiet and unremarkable.

And then, rarely - so rarely that it bears remembering - a life arrives that has no use for time at all. Emmett Dale Lee was such a life.

He was born thirteen weeks early, as though he already understood that his window was brief and he would not waste a moment of it waiting. Ninety-four days he fought in the NICU. A VP shunt was placed so his body could keep pace with what was already clearly an uncommon will. He came home. He grew. He was on a path that defied every cautious prognosis he had been given.

And then his shunt failed, and his body - which had never been his equal - could not recover.

But make no mistake about what happened in between.

In six months, Emmett did what the long-lived spend lifetimes attempting and rarely achieve. He drew people together who had no intention of standing in the same room. He made burdens that had felt unbearable suddenly small. He reordered the priorities of everyone near him - not by asking, not by needing, but simply by being so undeniably present that nothing false could survive around him.

He laughed for the first time the Sunday before his final admission. Let that settle. A body in quiet rebellion, and still - laughter. This was not an infant unaware of his circumstances. This was a soul that understood something the rest of us keep forgetting: that joy is not a reward for an easy life. It is an act of will.

Those who knew Emmett do not need these words. They already carry him. But for those meeting him here for the first time - you should know that lives like his do not come and go. They arrive, they alter the landscape, and they remain. You will think of him again. That is not an accident. That is Emmett, still working. As he always was. As he will always be.
