Snyder

Frankie Jo Tanner Baker, born on June 16, 1934, to Marvin and Sally Tanner, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2025, in Snyder, Texas, where she resided at Goodlife Retirement and Memory Care. She lived a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication to her family and community.

At the tender age of 16, Frankie faced the heart-wrenching loss of her father, Marvin, who passed away at the age of 42, leading to a significant change in her life. She moved in with TC and Flossie Walker, who provided her with support until she graduated from Mattson High School. It was during her time at Mattson that she met the love of her life, William Roy Baker, from Knox City. They were married on April 2, 1954, and enjoyed nearly six decades together until his passing on November 5, 2013.

Frankie pursued her education at McMurry University in Abilene, where she earned her degree and embarked on a fulfilling teaching career alongside William Roy. Her passion for education left an indelible mark on countless students, and she cherished the time spent nurturing young minds.

In addition to her professional achievements, Frankie found joy in gardening, cooking, and creating a sparkling clean home. She loved spending time in Ruidoso and cherished her role as a grandmother. Frankie is survived by her two children, William Roy (Billy) and his wife La Retha of Wichita Falls, and Temi Webb and her husband Jerry of Snyder. She was a proud grandmother to Landry, Dillon, Carson Matthies, Hadley Baker, Britney Webb and Whitney Sterling, as well as a loving great-grandmother to Breckyn, Jayven, Amantha, Kynlee, Ethan, Evan, Timber, Layne, Palmer Matthies, Caris and Elijah Baker, and Aiden Loper.

Frankie is also survived by her sister, Becky Ferguson of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joyce, Jane, Silvia Bill, and Lela Mae.

Frankie Jo Tanner Baker will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, nurturing heart, and the profound impact she had on those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
