Gary Noland Floyd, 76, passed away on January 24, 2026. Born on December 22, 1949, Gary grew up in Snyder, Texas, the son of the late Samuel Snyder Floyd and Martha Ann Noland. A man of discipline and service, Gary served his country in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1978. Following his military service, he began a career in healthcare, serving as an X-ray technician for 32 years until his retirement from San Angelo Community Hospital. Outside of his professional life, Gary was a dedicated martial artist, earning the rank of black belt in multiple styles.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lauren Jean Floyd; his sister, Barbara Byrd; and his parents. Known affectionately as "Papaw" to his many grandchildren, Gary's greatest legacy is his family. He is survived by his three daughters: Laurie Gavigan, Kristina Alexander, and Kerri Floyd. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Miranda Alexander, Ashley McCorquodale, Madelyn Alexander, Nicole Gavigan, and Orion Johansen-Gavigan. His memory will also be cherished by his eight great-grandchildren: Bentlee Thompson, Brody Thompson, Morgan Carey, Riley McCorquodale, Lucy McCorquodale, Makynlee Alexander, Leo Johansen-Gavigan, and Matteo Johansen-Gavigan.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Reid Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
