James Dale “Putt” Putnam
July 31, 1959 – September 15, 2025
James Dale Putnam, lovingly known as “Putt,” age 66, of Snyder, Texas, passed away on September 15, 2025, in Snyder after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 31, 1959, in Rotan, Texas, and grew up in Roby, where he graduated from Roby High School.
Putt worked many years in the oil and gas industry, beginning with Halliburton and later serving as a completion consultant. He was known for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and his enjoyment of hunting. A proud gun enthusiast, he especially cherished time spent with family. He dearly loved his two daughters, and nothing brought him greater joy than becoming a grandfather.
When faced with his brain tumor diagnosis in 2001, Putt met the journey with resilience and an unshakable spirit. Rather than focusing on the hardship, he chose to live each day with purpose and strength, inspiring those around him. His family rallied by his side, adopting the mantra of “choosing joy” as they walked through the challenges together. In moments that could have been defined by sorrow, Putt and his loved ones found laughter, created memories, and held tightly to the blessings that each day brought. This outlook transformed a season of difficulty into one filled with hope, courage, and love.
Putt shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Cindy. Their love for one another was a constant source of strength, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and unwavering commitment. Cindy was his partner in every sense—standing beside him through the joys, challenges, and triumphs of life. Their bond was a testimony of enduring love that will continue to inspire their family for years to come.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Putnam of Snyder, TX; daughters, Hailey Reagan and husband Travis of Lubbock, TX, and Jamie Tunnell and husband Jon of Shallowater, TX; and his beloved grandson, Jackson Tunnell of Shallowater, TX. He is also survived by his brothers, Bennie Putnam and wife Sabra of Rotan, TX, and Michael Putnam of Decatur, TX; father-in-law, Ted Posey of Rotan, TX; brothers-in-law, David Posey and wife Tammy of Rotan, TX, and Jeff Posey and wife Phiny of Roby, TX; sister-in-law, Terry McWilliams and husband Lance of Roby, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Putnam, parents, Cynthia Ann Putnam and James Horace Putnam, and his mother-in-law, Gloria Lou Posey.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Goodlife Care Center in Snyder for their compassion, love, and dedication. They are especially grateful to Brenda Espinosa and Macy Guiterrez for the unwavering care and kindness they showed throughout Putt’s journey, bringing comfort and peace to both him and his loved ones.
