Patricia "Patti" Barnes

Mrs. Patricia “Patti” Lou Barnes, age 73, of Ira, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Snyder, Texas, with Mr. Thomas Fogelman officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Ira Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Patti was born on August 12, 1952, in Howard County, Texas, to J.M. Sterling and Elizabeth “Lucille” Sterling. She married Mike Barnes, on July 4, 1976—a date she cherished, having been wed on the bicentennial.

Patti and Mike shared a love for never missing a Yankees game, creating countless memories together. Patti had a rare and beautiful gift for speaking truth with kindness and always found the good in others. She brought joy to those around her and especially loved celebrating the Fourth of July.

Her greatest happiness came from watching her grandchildren grow and play. Christmas was a particularly special time, as Patti delighted in wrapping thoughtful gifts for each of her loved ones. In her later years, she found peace in simple pleasures—reading detective novels, drying her hair in the warm sun, and relaxing on her back porch swing.

Patti was an avid cook and a talented seamstress, quilting bedding for each of her grandchildren. She was passionate about her country and enjoyed spending time at the Mayor’s tank fishing for crappie. A devoted member of Ira Methodist Church, she faithfully played the piano for many Sunday morning services.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Barnes; her children and extended family: Davi and Rick Todd; Jake and Jenn Barnes; Mark and Ashley Barnes; Jimmy and Theresa Sterling; June and Sid Wall; Tanya and Terry Shafer; and Brett and Laura Sterling.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Kirstyn Todd, Richard Todd, Mike Todd, Wyatt Barnes, Hatleigh Barnes, Nolan Barnes, Norah Barnes, and Lucy Barnes.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, J.M. Sterling and Elizabeth “Lucille” Sterling.

Patti will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.

The funeral home will be open for viewing Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9 AM- 8 PM, and Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:30 PM-8 PM.
