Phyllis Amelia Wood, 71, of Snyder, TX, formerly Lake George, CO, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital. There are three services planned. One in Snyder (family only), one in Colorado and one in West Virginia, times to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
P Wood (a nickname coined by her soulmate Rick) lived and loved life to the full. She began work in clothing retail and quickly promoted through the ranks becoming a district manager over many stores.
Phyllis loved sales as it provided the means for her to raise her boys, Sean and Ben, as a single mom. Despite the challenges that raising two boys on her own came with, she never thought twice about doing whatever it took to make sure they were cared for and provided for without ever despising the duty. Oh how she loved her sons!
From retail, she went to home design which she used to help friends and family, even participating in the remodel process getting her hands dirty.
Both prior careers prepared Phyllis for her special 15 years as operations manager of a ranch on 11 mile reservoir in Lake George, Colorado, where she put her eye for God's creation into practice, capturing the beauty of it in photos. From macro photography with flowers and bugs, to nature and wildlife.
She enjoyed making Christmas fudge every year and handing a batch out to all the people of regular contact like the meter readers, service station workers and mail carriers… and of course family and friends too.
She loved being a Grammy, cooking and cleaning and she was an Amazon Queen! She loved animals, especially her sweet dogs Finn, Bailey and Poopers.
Most of all, she loved people. Phyllis accepted people for who they were without judgement. She made allowances for others, not wanting to argue, only love them. She was so joyful, loving and quirky that she even joked and had fun as she talked in her sleep.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many nurses and doctors who cared for her over the past year, especially Cogdell Memorial Hospital, their doctors, nurses and therapist were the best. Every connection was authentic and she spoke fondly of all of them.
