Robert Menix was born on November 20, 1946, in Lamesa, Texas. He was a true cowboy in every sense of the word, a hardworking man of strong character, quiet wisdom, and unwavering dedication to the life he loved.

Robert graduated from high school in Gail, Texas, in 1965. Even during his high school years, he was already making his mark in the ranching world, working at the Miller Ranch and surrounding ranches. Ranching wasn't just a job to Robert; it was his way of life.

On September 18, 1970, Robert married the love of his life, Sara Gardner, in Albany, Texas. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and the values they held dear.

Throughout his years, Robert worked on several well-known ranches, including the Fuller Brothers East Ranch, Thompson Ranch, and Brooks Ranch in Sweetwater. He eventually settled in for 15 years on the Fuller Brothers LP Ranch along Highway 84. Later, he started his own business selling liquid cattle feed while continuing to day work until his retirement.

Robert was known for his exceptional horsemanship and his ability to train horses that others couldn't get along with. He had a special talent and patience that made him one of a kind. A perfectionist in everything he did, he even handcrafted bits for fellow cowboys he worked alongside. He ran his own cattle and stayed horseback for as long as his body would allow.

He was a man of few words, but when Robert spoke, people listened. Nobody could outwork him, and he never asked anyone to do something he wouldn't do himself. He led by example, earning the respect and admiration of generations of cowboys, both young and old. Many looked up to him as one of the last of the old-school cowboys-a man whose work ethic, knowledge, integrity, and way of life will never be forgotten.

Above all, Robert loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Snyder. His greatest joys were spending time with his family, especially his grandchild and great-grandchild, who brought him tremendous happiness.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of many years, Sara Menix of Snyder, Texas; his son, Troy Menix and wife Rachael of Snyder, Texas; his sister, Bobbie Weidemann of Lexington, Texas; sister-in-law, Rita Wolf and husband James of Snyder, Texas; brother-in-law, Carey Gardner and wife Cecelia of Aspermont, Texas; granddaughter, Lacey Menix of Snyder, Texas; Step grandson Morgan Wilson and Katie of San Angelo, TX. Step grandson Miles Wilson and Allison of San Angelo, TX, great-grandson, Kye Chester of Snyder, Texas, and great grandson Hudson Wilson of San Angelo tx; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Jake Menix; his father, Rudolph Menix; his mother, Novice Menix; his brothers, Wilbert Menix and Frank Menix; and his sister, Marquita Connor.

Robert leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by years or accomplishments alone. It lives on in the horses he trained, the ranches where he worked, the cowboys he mentored, the family he loved, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

He was a cowboy through and through, a man who believed in hard work, doing things right, keeping his word, and letting his actions speak louder than words.

The old-school cowboy way of life may be fading, but the legacy of Robert Menix will ride on forever.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
