Roland Bryant Bowden went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025, peacefully in his sleep, at Good Life Senior Living in Snyder.
Roland was born April 16, 1932 in Harrold, Texas, to John Henry and Mattie Jewell Bowden. He graduated in 1951 from school in Oklaunion and enjoyed going back to his school reunions during the years. He married Frantz Smith August 21, 1952 and enjoyed almost 68 years of marriage. They had two sons, Terry Bowden and Richard Bowden. He was a devoted husband and father. Roland faithfully attended East Side Church of Christ in Snyder.
Roland Bowden worked in the oilfield supply business and oilfield service business for several companies including Continental Emsco, Dresser, and NL Well Service, in Odessa, Pampa, San Angelo, and Snyder. After retirement, he and Fran enjoyed many years traveling and working with the Sojourners church builders group.
Roland was full of life and stories, especially about his early days growing up on the farm and playing football. He enjoyed singing and would often make up his own tunes and lyrics. The most recent song he sang was about “going home.”
Survivors include his sons, Terry Bowden and wife, Paula, of Snyder, and Richard Bowden of Alanya, Turkey, a sister, Loretta Weatherby and her husband, James, a sister-in-law, Barbara Bowden, six grandchildren: Allison Wetz and husband, Matt, Jeremy Bowden and wife Alisha, Bryson Bowden and wife Ashley, Courtney Brenner, Scotlin Bowden and wife Jennifer, Mckenzie Bowden and fiancé, Travis Gradert, and 11 great-grandchildren, Dillen and Ezra Wetz, Triston Bowden and wife, Sunney Bowden, Ty and Bentley Bowden, Avery, Addison and Jackson Bowden, S. J., Rylynn, and Ryder Bowden.
Preceding Roland in death were his wife, Fran Bowden, his parents, John Henry Bowden and Mattie Jewell King Bowden, his brothers, A. C. Bowden, Robert Bowden, Jay Bowden, and John Henry Bowden, Jr., his sisters, Lolabelle Williams, and Louise Hunt.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Good Life Senior Living, and the caregivers from Hospice who took such loving care of Roland.
Visitation will be held at Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00 Friday, December 12, 2025, and services will be on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 at the East Side Church of Christ in Snyder. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
